There are many ways to help. Please know that any way you choose to help is a tremendous blessing to someone. This is our heart and we love these children who are diagnosed with cancer and their families. Even though we can’t take the pain of cancer away from them. We can leave an everlasting impression of love and hope with them. Help us to impact their lives and and make a small difference to show them they are not alone and we do care!
Please feel free to browse through and let us know if there is something you can do to help. Thank you and God bless you!
1. Fundraising Campaign:
We have a fundraising campaign packet that is available. It's where you help Friends Like Us by raising money for children with cancer. Anyone can do it (any state), whether you're a ministry, organization, company or anyone who just wants to help with this campaign that has a heart of compassion for these kids. It’s simple, it’s fun! We provide everything you need to get started. Try to take the challenge and you could receive a brand new Apple iPod Shuffle in your choice of color. If you have any questions or are interested, please feel free to contact us for a packet and we'll send one out to you. More information here: Fundraising Campaign
2. Volunteering:
You can volunteer your time to help with some fundraisers, events, visiting the hospitals or helping fix meals for the families of the Ronald McDonald Houses. We will need help to work at fundraising sites like Wal-Mart, Sam's Club and more. It is rewarding, fulfilling and a huge blessing to know your helping others in their time of need. If you would like to help us with special events when they get scheduled, please feel free to contact us for more information and we will put you on the volunteers list for when an event or calendar date arises. Thank you! A volunteers app. must be filled out
3. A Place:
Do you have a facility/building that we could use to host an event or fundraiser at? We have entertainment and more lined up, but we are in need of a facility to use. We need help in this area. We would greatly appreciate your kindness and generosity!
4. Special Skills:
If you have a special skill that you do and would like to use it to help children and families facing childhood cancer. An example is; we had group of woman who knitted hats for kids who lost their hair. They gave us a whole box of them and they are beautiful. We also have a professional company donate hand-made cloud pillows for the little ones to snuggle with. Whatever your skill may be and you feel it could benefit these children in any way, please contact us, we would love to speak with you.
5. Making Cards
We need your help making cards. When we deliver toys to the kids, we also deliver greeting cards with them to brighten up their spirits. Many cards will go to kids who enjoy receiving cards from other children.
Battling cancer can be one of the most difficult and loneliest experiences a person can go through. With cancer touching so many lives around the world it’s time to let them know they are not alone. Our mission is to provide hope and comfort to as many children as we can, who are involved in this battle of cancer.
Creative ways people will make cards:
A. Card parties! Invite people over to help make a night of helping others.
B. Talk to your kids’ school, specifically the art department
C. Make family night card making night
D. Contact local youth groups; churches, synagogues, after school programs, day cares
If you’re are local we can pick the cards up. If you’re out of state, just package them up and send them to us in the mail or ups and we will make sure that they get to the kids in the hospitals.
6. Girl Time!
We need help with the donations of make-up (all kinds), nail polishes (all colors), lip glosses, pink bandana's, bracelets and soft socks. We need the supplies to help us spend the time with teen girls faced with cancer. You can donate money right here online for us to purchase, buy the supplies and drop off to us or have it shipped to us if you're out of state. Make-up companies...we need your help! Here's the Link to Girl Time!
* For the same cost of just one latte/Frappe a week; it can help provide cosmetics to help one teen girl with cancer, to help boost her confidence. Please consider a donation?
7. Donate: (there are many ways to donate)
A. Financially
your generous support helps us to impact the lives of children and teens with cancer going through chemotherapy. Friends Like Us is a faith-based organization that relies totally on the support of caring people who have a passion as we do, to influence and touch children’s lives in a positive and meaningful way. No matter what size of gift you can give; every single contribution helps!
B. Toys
We can always use toy donations from anyone who wants to help in this way. They do need to be new though. Any toys that are suitable for ages of 2-12 years old can be donated to us. If you’re local we can pick them up or if you’re out of state you can ship them to us. We have people out of state that ship the toys to us now.
If you could see the looks on the children’s faces as we hand them a toy, a card along with a hug if we can. It touches the parents too and let me tell you, doing this does really make a difference! Would you help us by keeping the toys coming in?
C. Blood
If you are able to donate blood or platelets, please do! There are so many children who require blood transfusions and we need to always make sure it's there for them, when they need it. You can go to a local Red Cross and they will happily assist you.
D. Miscellaneous
Other kinds of donations that we use to help the cancer floors in the hospitals are; DVD movies (family/children oriented only), gas gift cards to help parents who have to travel to get their child to the hospital. New coloring books and crayons for children or whatever is in your heart to give. If you believe it can be used for a child or family, please let us know. We provide gift cards (Wal-Mart,Visa or iTunes) to the teenagers who have cancer. We deliver all the toys and gift cards personally to all the Children in the hospitals.
